4th grade students are learning about how animal adaptations work. They created their own creature and used pic collage to describe the creature's adaptations and explain how they help the creature survive.
Educreations is an app that you can use to create and share video lessons. Content can include photos or original drawings. Voice recording and labeling add another level to this exciting app.
Assessment-Students can show what they have learned using voice recording and labeling to demonstrate a concept. The teacher can view the videos and determine if a concept has been mastered.
Peer Mentoring- Students can create videos to share with their peers.
Teaching-Teachers can record instructions and students can watch the video to learn a new concept or to receive additional instruction and practice with a concept. I think this would be a great way to explain a homework assignment or project so students and parents can watch the video together at home.
Something Special- Even though Educreations are created on the ipad they can be viewed on any device. So, your students are not tied to an ipad in order to view the lessons.
Check out some of the creations on the Educreations website... http://www.educreations.com/

The fourth grade tech toolbox users created book reviews using Audio Boo. Then, I walked into Ms. Avery's class and the tech toolbox audio boo experts were teaching their classmates to use Audio Boo in art. So Exciting!
Have a look, and listen to Audio Boo!
1st Grade students from Tech Toolbox watched a short video on Van Gogh and were asked to create a self portrait. We asked them to describe how they created their self portrait and why they drew themselves as they did. Go to the Audio Boos below to see and hear about some of their self portraits. Audio Boo can be downloaded on any device. If you are using ipad download the iphone version instead of the ipad version.
I'm really excited about participating in the ipad institute and started this blog to share the things that I'm learning there. Have a look and be sure to comment if you think of an ingenious way to use any of the tools that you see on the blog.
First, if you already have an ipad and are using it in your classroom I'd encourage you to download the ios 7. I didn't want to do it because I'm not crazy about the interface on my phone but there are lots of new features that really add to the ipad experience.
Check out 10 cool features hiding in ios7 from Time Magazine
So, be sure to bite the bullet and download that update. It was super fast when I downloaded here at home last night. it might be slower on the school network. Apparently the high school kids kept the network hopping all day trying to do their downloads at school. And, look for the ios7 guide in the apple book store. It's free!
Now, for some apps...
Reflector App- Wirelessly mirror your ipad, iPhone or iPod touch screen to any mac or pc.
12.99 for the app
First, you download the Reflector app onto your computer
Then, you can mirror your ipad so students can watch on the big screen but you are free to walk around the room as you work the iPad.
Something unique... If your students are using iPads, iphones or iPods they can connect by airplay to your laptop and you can see their devices mirrored on the screen along with your own. Reflector can mirror up to 24 devices.
Applications...Students can model tasks for other students from their iPads, you can monitor ipad use in the classroom during group or independent activities
Gives you up to 3 minutes of sound recording called "Boos"
Photos can be added to the Boo to personalize the production.
Something Unique- Boos can be posted online on the Audioboo site and shared with other classes or even with parents.
Applications- Reporting, story telling, assessment. Students can record book reviews and recommendations to share with others. Students could record a description of an activity that they did during the day and then it can be shared with parents that evening.
Recommendation: Start with a teacher account and let your students use that account to record their Boos. That way you can monitor what they are doing. And, all of your class Boos will be in the same place so you manage them and share them with parents, colleagues, administrators and other students.
Watch the video and read the blog for more ideas..http://piccollage.wordpress.com
Applications: I think this would be an amazing way for students to share their school day with their parents! What else can you think of?
