As we go full STEAM ahead we have to remember that reading is the foundation track that we run on. Our students need to become strong readers who will be able to comprehend complex texts. Believe it or not, this starts with Dr. Seuss and Curious George. Here at Medlock, Reading and Writing occur across the curriculum because we know that our students need these foundational skills in order to succeed as they move forward.
You can help at home by encouraging your child to read anything and everything that they can get their hands on. Find out what interests them and make sure they have reading materials available for that topic. And, be sure that reading is fun for your student because the more they practice the better they will read.
